The Northern, Western and Central Lakes are easily accessible from Beckstones Farm. We offer an ideal base for walking and touring the Lake District. There are lovely walks to suit all tastes from the challenge of the higher fells to walking round Derwentwater or a gentle stroll from the house, through Powter Howe Wood to Bassenthwaite Lake. Whinlatter Forest with its miles of forest track and mountain biking routes back onto our farmhouse. Guests can walk or cycle from the door. The Lake Districts Ospreys nest and fish in the Bassenthwaite area; the Osprey view point is about four miles away. The Lakes of Buttermere, Crummock, Loweswater, Wastwater and Ennerdale are all beautiful and different.

Keswick the main tourist attraction in the Lake District is ten minutes away, a picturesque market town located on the shores of Derwentwater. Keswick has attractions to cater for all tastes, numerous shops, pubs, restaurants. There is also a leisure pool, cinema, and the famous Theatre by the Lake which is open all year round. No visit to Keswick would be complete without a stroll through Hope Park to the landing stages and a trip round the Lake on the Launch. Rowing Boats, Motor Boats and Kayaks can be hired on Derwentwater.

Guests can explore the area's history with visits to Keswick Museum, 13th Century Crosthwaite Church, Keswick Mining Museum, Castlerigg Stone Circle, Mirehouse, Wordsworth House in

Cockermouth, The Rum Story at Whitehaven and the Roman Museum at Maryport.
A 45 minute drive North is the Border City of Carlisle with its historic castle and museums; a little further beyond is Hadrian's Wall.
